Month-long celebration highlights undiscovered roles of local parks and recreation
Summer is here, which means it’s time to get out and explore the great things happening at your local parks and recreation center. This July, join in on the fun and games offered by Nampa Parks and Recreation as they celebrate Park and Recreation Month. A variety of fun activities are planned for residents of all ages and abilities- including free movies in the park, walking groups on city pathways, fun at the outdoor pools, traveling playground and more.
Nampa Parks & Recreation is celebrating Park and Recreation Month, an initiative of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), by inviting you to get in the game. Playgrounds, Nampa Recreation Center, sports leagues, summer camps are just a few of the things that come to mind when we think of parks and recreation. But parks and recreation is so much more! During Park and Recreation Month, discover all the ways parks and recreation can improve quality of life, like senior programs, health and wellness opportunities and community celebrations. From providing us places to play, get fit and stay healthy to fostering new relationships and forging a connection with nature, our close-to-home community park and recreation facilities provide essential services and improve quality of life.
Nampa Parks & Recreation Director Darrin Johnson stated, “I want every community member to go out and enjoy our parks. Parks offer amazing opportunities for the community. When people are walking the pathways or having fun on a playground, it provides the opportunity for health and quality of life. We strive to provide amenities that will encourage people to get active and make Nampa a great place to live.”
Nampa Parks & Recreation will celebrate Park and Recreation Month with our Game On board. Kids and adults are invited to play and get active with Nampa Parks and Rec! Pick up a game board at the Nampa Recreation Center, Lakeview Water Park or Lincoln Pool and participate in the free or low-cost activities such as exploring a pathway, playing on a playground, trying pickleball in the park, watching a movie in the park and lots more! Everyone who completes the game wins a prize. This is a great opportunity for families to discover the wide variety of fun activities Nampa Parks & Recreation offers and get their Game On!
NRPA encourages people that support parks and recreation to share why they think it’s important with the hashtag #GameOnJuly.
