Nampa’s Northside Interchange will see a slight change in scenery over the summer months due to an irrigation break near the area.
The damaged irrigation pipe travels under Northside Road and the interchange bridge. The cost to repair the pipe is estimated to exceed $100,000. The planned improvements to the Northside Interchange, which are scheduled to begin in Fall 2019, already include replacing the existing irrigation pipe.
Mayor Debbie Kling said, “Stewardship of taxpayer dollars is extremely important. With the upcoming construction taking place in that area, this would be an expensive short-term fix for only a few months. Beautification of our community is important, however, with repair cost anticipated to exceed $100,000, we did not believe it was the best use of taxpayer dollars to provide greenery for a few months’ time when the repairs would be part of the interchange project beginning this fall.”
The damaged portion of the irrigation line has been isolated to ensure there are no further leaks. Irrigation service to the surrounding properties remains functioning.
