The City of Nampa is beginning a process to review and update its Comprehensive Plan which guides growth and development in Nampa. Community members are invited to join in the process by attending open houses, completing surveys or participating in the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee. The first advisory committee meeting will be held Tues., Oct. 23 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Nampa Civic Center.
The plan is meant to represent the community's consensus about where different types of development should occur and how quality of life can be enhanced for all residents. The Comprehensive Plan will include the City’s updated strategic plan as well.
The plan covers a range of topics including economic development, housing, land use, transportation and public services. In total, it represents the community's vision for how it wants to grow and what it cherishes. Mayor Kling said, “We are embarking on a strategic planning process with the update of our comprehensive plan review and desire the input and participation of our community.”
Nampa's current Comprehensive Plan was adopted in 2012 after a two-year intensive process with participation from more than 300 residents. Most of the work is still relevant, but with continued growth, a detailed review of the plan and its goals is now warranted. The current comprehensive plan looks to the year 2035, this update will consider needs up to the year 2040.
The advisory committee is expected to meet three times between now and April 2019. The first meeting on October 23 will focus on reviewing strategies in the existing plan. If you are willing to serve on the committee, please RSVP to Karla Nelson, Community Planner at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 208-468-4434.
