The Nampa Police Department operates our own crime lab, associated with our evidence division. The division employs 5 personnel, and is overseen by a Criminalist, Christine Cannon. The unit comprises 2 dedicated personnel to handling evidence, 2 to the lab full time, and one doing evidence and lab work. The evidence techs also help the criminalist with evidence collection at major crime scenes, when needed.
Currently the Nampa Police Department crime lab handles all forms of latent fingerprint processing, marijuana screening, shoe and tire track comparisons, AFIX and verification latent fingerprint comparisons, and some trace evidence processing. We currently use the Idaho State Police department crime lab for narcotics testing, DNA testing, and blood and urine toxicology screening.
