Environmental Assessment for Land Aquisition
Notice of Availability of Draft Environmental Assessment for Land Acquisition near the Nampa Municipal Airport, Nampa, Idaho
The City of Nampa and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announce that a draft Environmental Assessment (EA) has been prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969 and the Council of Environmental Quality (CEQ) guidelines to analyze the potential environmental impacts of a proposed land acquisition by the Nampa Municipal Airport. The federal regulatory agency with jurisdiction over civil aviation is the FAA, which must review and approve all proposed land acquisition and development on airport property to ensure compatibility with safe airport operations.
The City of Nampa proposes to acquire a parcel adjacent to the existing Runway 11 to mitigate incompatible land uses within the Runway 11 Runway Protection Zone (RPZ), thereby improving the Airport’s safety in accordance with planning guidelines established by the FAA. The proposed land acquisition would increase protection of people and property on the ground in the event that an aircraft should land short of the Runway 11 threshold. Existing structures on the parcel would be removed to eliminate incompatible land uses within the RPZ, and structures outside of the RPZ may be proposed for removal. Prior to the removal of any structures, their historic integrity and overall condition would be evaluated and coordinated with the Idaho State Historic Preservation Office as appropriate.
The Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) will be available for public review for a period of 30 days on the City’s web-site: https://cityofnampa.us/116/Airport-Division. Hard copies of the EA are available for review at J-U-B Engineers, 250 Beechwood Dr. #201, Boise, Idaho during regular business hours. Hard copies and/or a digital version of the Draft EA are also available upon request. To receive a hard copy, please contact Zach Scott at (509) 458-3727 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
