On Sept. 19, 2016, at 8:57 a.m., a Nampa Police officer made a traffic stop on a red 2008 Nissan Titan at Northside Boulevard and North Broadmore Way in Nampa. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Lonnie C. Robinson, a 37-year-old, Nampa male.
During the traffic stop, Robinson attempted to flee by quickly getting back into his vehicle and trying to put the engine in gear. A second Nampa Police officer had arrived on scene by this time. Both officers attempted to keep Robinson from driving away and Robinson began fighting with the officers. During the altercation, Robinson attempted to gouge out one of the officer’s eyes using his thumb and scratched at his face and head area. Officers were able to gain control of Robinson and he was placed into custody.
The police officer that was injured was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released for his injuries. He ended up with a black eye and lacerations and bruising to his face and head.
Robinson was also transported to a local hospital due to some small lacerations and reported chest pain. He was treated and released and then booked into the Canyon County jail. He was charged with two counts of battery on a police officer, two counts of possession of stolen property (firearms), three counts of felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, resist and obstruct a police officer and operating a vehicle without insurance. Robinson is also currently on probation.
